Carville
The last leprosy hospital in the continental United States--located in Carville, Louisiana--was shut down in 1993. The remaining patients were sent to a facility in Hawaii, to private care hospitals, and a lucky few were returned to their families. But for one woman it will not be an easy return--to a daughter who never knew she existed and a husband so consumed by Alzheimer's that he doesn't even recognize your questions, much less remember the answers.
